Dr. Purva Shoor is a Professor of Community Medicine currently working at AIIMS Udaipur, with MD qualification and a PG Diploma in Environmental and Occupational Health. She has over 9 years of academic and clinical experience, specializing in community medicine, epidemiology, and public health research. She has held key academic positions at JNUIMSRC and KDMC Mathura, contributing extensively to teaching, research, and community health programs. Her work includes multiple books, book chapters, and research publications in areas such as preventive cardiology, occupational health, diabetes, COVID-19, and environmental health. She is also experienced in public health field programs, CME activities, and health education initiatives.  

Topic: Reversal of Hypertensive Cardiomyopathy Hypertrophic or dilatational cardiomyopathies are common manifestations of long-standing hypertension. The condition is dreaded due to its complications like valvular disorders like mitral prolapse or mitral regurgitation. It can also lead to untimely heart failure with poor prognosis. It would be outstanding accomplishment by cardiologists to bring about reversal of this condition through early diagnosis and holistic preventive care. ACEI/ARBs are known to cause this reversal with positive remodeling of the enlarged heart when prescribed to hypertensive patients. Still, it seldom works unless the hypertensive patients are additionally cured by hormonal changes, nutrition, salt sensitivity, physical activity and environmental changes like stress management.
