Biography

Blockchain and data security in the automotive industry

Abstract Title

Researcher at the Department of Computer Science, National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics; commissioned by SECIHTI; his academic background includes a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute; a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute; and an Electronics Engineer from the Technological Institute of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. His research interests include signal processing, ML and DL for the processing, analysis, and diagnosis of automotive ecosystems for road safety, cybersecurity at the software and hardware levels, IoT, Industry 4.0, VLSI integrated circuit design, and intelligent systems design based on neural networks and fuzzy logic. Reference: The integration of blockchain in the automotive industry is emerging as a fundamental pillar for data security in the era of connected mobility. This paradigm addresses the critical challenges of integrity, traceability, and trust in complex ecosystems involving autonomous vehicles, global supply chains, and mobility services. Blockchain guarantees the immutability and transparency of vehicle data, from maintenance history to over-the-air (OTA) software updates, creating a tamper-proof record. This strengthens cybersecurity by preventing alterations to critical components and ensuring vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications. Furthermore, smart contracts automate and secure transactions, such as payments in Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) or ownership verification in used vehicle marketplaces. Convergence with AI enables the analysis of this secure data to optimize operations and predict threats, while the scalability of hybrid cloud architectures supports the enormous volume of data generated. Together, these technologies build a resilient digital environment, essential for consumer trust and innovation in the coming era of the digital and intelligent automobile.
