Advances in Neurodegenerative Disease by way of meditation Neurodegenerative diseases pose challenges for healthcare systems, doctors, and patients. With aging, more and more people are developing neurodegenerative diseases, and currently, treatment options are limited. Meditation techniques offer adjuvant treatments for patients with neurodegenerative diseases because they are inexpensive, easy to teach, and practice. Research evidence supporting the use of meditation techniques for neurodegenerative diseases has grown. Meditation is a beneficial non-pharmacological treatment that helps slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases and improve cognitive functions associated with them. Research has shown that consistent meditation has many positive effects. Long-term daily meditation slows neurodegenerative processes in key brain regions. The lack of objective benefits on neuropsychological tests is not necessarily disappointing, and this may become apparent sooner after a longer period of observation using person-centered tests that assess cognition in everyday tasks. We used a silent meditation technique that incorporated mantras, yoga exercises, or body movements. Therefore, we may incorporate a longer meditation routine than some other researchers have used. The results need to be validated in a larger group observed over a longer period of time. Investigating other imaging methods to analyze structural changes, particularly in fiber pathways connecting different areas, and their relationship to functional connectivity changes will provide more information about the long-term effects of meditation in neurodegenerative diseases. Interdisciplinary collaboration is needed to ensure shared accountability among scientists, clinicians, engineers, regulators, patients, and policymakers. Together, we must determine success not just by technical feasibility, but also by clinical utility, societal benefits, and equitable access.
