Biography

Investigating the role of innate immunity to influenza and malaria. Investigating the antimicrobial role of Dual Oxidase 1 and Myeloperoxidase in infectious diseases. Moving forward National Institute of Health-funded R01, R21 grants (generating and analyzing data, drafting annual progress reports, writing grants and papers, presenting data at local, national, and international meetings. Training and teaching undergraduate and graduate students, research technicians, and postdocs. Co-coordinating Immunology Journal Club, teaching Advanced Immunology (the inflammasome in infectious and autoimmune diseases) course to graduate students in Infectious Diseases Co-teaching Special Topics in Disease Intervention and teaching African Health Issues (Malaria, Tuberculosis, and HIV) to undergraduate students at the African Studies Institute, University of Georgia, Athens, GA. Coming up with ideas, writing, initiating collaborations and submitting NIH and CDC grant applications.
