Alberto Poku is a Ghanaian professional with a strong academic and healthcare background. Born on 28th November 1973, he is married and fluent in both English and Twi. He holds a Fellow title in Nursing and Adult Health from the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (2016) and an MPhil in Physiology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (2009-2015). He also earned a BA in Nursing with Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon (2002-2005), and completed a certificate course in Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques in Qingdao, China (2016). Alberto began his nursing career at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Kumasi (1998-2001). He has also participated in various professional development courses, such as training on the HTIs portal for academic officers, major incidence management, curriculum development, and workshops on academic performance and human rights for health professionals. His career is driven by a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to the health sector and academia in Ghana through hard work and dedication. Thanks to vaccination programmes, life expectancy in the world is one of humanity’s greatest achievements. According to the WHO, vaccination can prevent between 2 and 3 million deaths per year worldwide. At the moment, many countries are facing the return of some epidemics believed to be elapsed, the reappearance of which is mainly due to a lack of vaccination coverage. In an increasingly digitalized and introverted society, misinformation is on the rise, social media pose a new challenge when it comes to maintaining confidence in immunization leading to vaccination hesitancy. The aim of this article is to correct the misinformation leading to vaccination hesitancy and suggest strategies to improve vaccination in various countries.
