Dr. Javaid Ahmad Mir is a nursing academician and researcher currently serving as Chairperson of Nursing Education & Research (TNAI Kashmir). He is a PhD Scholar and holds a postgraduate degree in Psychiatric Nursing from SKIMS. He is a faculty member at the Government College of Nursing, Baramulla, and also serves as Academic & Research Coordinator at the Government College of Nursing, GMC Baramulla. Dr. Mir has over nine years of teaching experience and has authored five books, along with more than 50 national and international research publications. He is actively involved as a reviewer and editorial board member for several national and international journals and serves as a research guide and co-guide for undergraduate nursing students. He is a Certified Trainer of Trainers (TOT) in Simulation-Based Education and a Master Trainer for programs on promoting mental health among healthcare providers, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. His professional experience includes roles as Program Head at KIIT and Nursing Educator at various medical institutions. Dr. Mir is a life member of several professional organizations, including the Indian Society of Psychiatric Nurses (ISPN), TNAI, Organization of Wound Care Nurses (OWCN), and a member of the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association. He also completed an internship at King Fahad Medical City (KFMC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Integrating Progressive Muscle Relaxation through mHealth: Conceptual Development of the “Relaxed Moms” Application for Stress and Anxiety Reduction in Primigravidae Mothers Background: Pregnancy is a dynamic period marked by profound physiological, psychological, and social changes that can predispose expectant mothers—especially primigravidae—to stress and anxiety. Excessive prenatal stress adversely influences both maternal well-being and fetal outcomes. Objective: This study explores the conceptual framework and significance of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) as a non-pharmacological strategy for stress reduction during pregnancy and presents the development of Relaxed Moms, a mobile health (mHealth) application designed to deliver guided PMR sessions and mindfulness-based interventions. Methods: The conceptual model of the Relaxed Moms mobile application. A randomized clinical trial is proposed involving 200 primigravidae mothers, divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group will use the Relaxed Moms mobile app for 10 weeks, while the control group will receive standard antenatal care. Stress and anxiety levels will be measured using the Stress Scale on Pregnancy and the Stirling Antenatal Anxiety Scale. Data will be analyzed using the unpaired t-test. Results :It was found that the Relaxed Moms mobile app significantly reduced stress and anxiety among primigravidae mothers by integrating relaxed Moms Mobile application. Conclusion: The integration of PMR through digital platforms offers a scalable, evidence-based, and accessible approach to enhancing maternal mental health. The Relaxed Moms mobile application represents an innovative pathway to bridge psychological and emotional well-being during pregnancy.
