Dr. Aravinda Wundavilli is an academic and healthcare professional with over 20 years of experiencein clinical practice, medical education, and healthcare management. She is currently a Lecturer inHuman Anatomy at AIMST University, Malaysia. She holds a master's degree in human Anatomy,along with additional training in clinical research, child psychology, and trichology.Over the course of her career, she has worked in both teaching and leadership roles, including servingas an Assistant Professor and helping manage specialized medical and cosmetic surgical clinics. She iscommitted to strengthening medical education, mentoring medical students, and integrating researchwith real-world clinical practices.Her research interests include women's health primarily involving concerns around menopause, nonspecific low back pain, stem cell therapies, integrative medicine, developmental and cognitivepsychology, and integrating AI in health care and medical education. She has presented atinternational conferences on topics such as lumbar vertebral morphometry, lumbar lordosis, trichologypractices, and her latest works have been published in the Anti-Inflammatory & Anti – Allergy Agentsin Medicinal Chemistry and Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Title - "The biopsychosocial relevance of Non-Specific Low Back Pain (NSLBP) in peri - and postmenopausal women" Non-specific low back pain (NSLBP) in peri- and postmenopausal women is becoming anincreasingly important women's health concern. It draws attention to three major issues:the global burden of disability, a growing ageing population, and the physical, emotional,and social changes that accompany menopause.Low back pain impacts a significant population worldwide. The World Health Organizationreports that 619 million people were living with low back pain in 2020, and this number isexpected to rise to 843 million by 2050. It also remains the leading cause of disabilityworldwide, mainly due to an increase in the ageing population. According to WHO, thenumber of women aged 50 years and above is expected to reach 1.2 billion globally by 2050.This is clinically important because menopause is often accompanied by several symptoms- such as poor sleep, mood changes, and shifts in body composition that can worsen theexperience of pain. In fact, a meta-analysis found that 51.6% of postmenopausal womenexperience sleep disorders, which may further increase pain and subsequent disability.When taken together, these trends show why NSLBP in peri- and postmenopausal womenshould be understood through a biopsychosocial lens. Exploring and understanding themultifactorial nature of NSLBP can lead to better assessment and earlier prevention, todesign individualized care.
