Ashraf Darwish is a distinguished Professor of Computer Science and former Acting Head of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Helwan University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Saint Petersburg State University in 2006. He specializes in Artificial Intelligence, with key research interests in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, digital twins, the metaverse, explainable AI, and generative AI. He serves as Vice Chair of the Scientific Research School in Egypt in Computer Science and IT, and is actively involved in several international journals as editor and reviewer. Professor Darwish has made significant academic contributions through numerous publications, books, and conference papers, and is a senior member of IEEE. He served as Cultural and Educational Chancellor representing Egypt in Kazakhstan and Central Asia (2011–2015). He was awarded Best Researcher at Helwan University in 2014 and is recognized among the top 2% of highly cited scientists globally in AI and related fields (Stanford Ioannidis Index, 2022–2023). Currently, he serves as Chancellor of the Egyptian Chinese University and is a member of the Communication Research and IT Council at ASRT, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egypt.
