Abstract Title

Intellectual Property, Big Data, and Privacy: Navigating the Legal Frontiers of AI                                                                                                                                                                                                         Abstract: The rapid scaling of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data analytics has created a complex web of legal, regulatory, and ethical challenges across global jurisdictions. As generative AI models rely heavily on massive datasets harvested from diverse sources, they push the boundaries of established statutory frameworks governing both data privacy and intellectual property. This presentation examines the critical intersection of data protection statutes (PDPA/GDPR), copyright law, and ethical governance in the age of AI. Key themes include:1. Big Data vs. Privacy Rights: Evaluating the conflict between AI training requirements and statutory privacy principles, including data minimization, consent, and data subject rights regarding automated profiling.2. Copyright & Ownership Frontiers: Navigating the legal implications of training datasets on copyrighted works, fair use doctrines, and ownership rights over AI-generated content.3. Ethical Governance & Compliance: Strategies for establishing multi-layered compliance frameworks that balance technological innovation with human rights, institutional accountability, and legal transparency.By bridging legal analysis with media and technological governance contexts, this session offers valuable insights for scholars, legal practitioners, and policy makers seeking to harmonize AI development with legal safeguards.
