Biography

Natalija Arsić is a student researcher from Belgrade, Serbia, currently pursuing the Natural Sciences and Mathematics stream at the Fifth Belgrade Grammar School, with an expected graduation in June 2028. Her research interests focus on applied chemistry, environmental chemistry, bioanalytics, phycoremediation, and scientific engineering. She is the lead student researcher on the Phycoremediation Kinetics & Smart Algal Buffer Zone (SABZ) Project, where she investigates the growth kinetics of Tetradesmus obliquus under varying NPK conditions and studies nutrient uptake and ion sequestration using spectrophotometric analysis. She also designed and developed the SABZ system, integrating real-time optical sensing with Arduino-controlled vacuum extraction to automate biomass separation and support the conversion of nutrient-rich runoff into bio-fertilizer. Natalija has demonstrated strong scientific achievement through international and national competitions. She received a Bronze Medal (3rd Place) in Chemistry at the International Science and Engineering Fair (IMSEF) in Izmir, Turkey, a Bronze Medal (3rd Place) in Ecology/Environmental Chemistry at the International Conference of Young Scientists (ICYS) in New Delhi, India, and 1st Place in the Chemistry/Ecology category at the National Science Competition. She is an active student researcher at the Petnica Science Center in Applied Chemistry and Bio-analytics and a member and project researcher at the Nikola Tesla Regional Center for Young Talents. Her technical expertise includes spectrophotometry, culture-medium formulation, nutrient kinetics analysis, Arduino integration, optical sensor deployment, and automated extraction systems.

Abstract Title

Title: Response of green alga Tetradesmus obliquus (Turpin) M.J.Wynne 2016 to eutrophication - Abstract: This study investigates the impact of synthetic NPKfertilizer on the growth kinetics of the microalgaTetradesmus obliquus to evaluate its potential forwastewater bioremediation. By testing variousconcentrations of phosphorus-rich fertilizer in BG11medium, a significant growth synergy has beendefined that maximizes biomass production. Theresults establish a precise biological baseline fordeveloping automated systems to mitigateanthropogenic eutrophication and optimize nutrientrecovery from agricultural runoff.
