Biography

Jothimani Kanthan Ganapathi is a Principal Architect at Intuit with more than 24 years ofexperience in Generative AI, blockchain, digital payments, enterprise architecture, designsystems, and large-scale technology platforms. At Intuit, he has led enterprise-scale initiatives inGenAI-powered software development and design systems supporting products used by morethan 100 million customers. Previously, at Visa, he contributed to the architecture of globaldigital-payment platforms including Visa Secure Remote Commerce (Click to Pay).His scholarly work spans AI-driven product development, multi-agent systems, blockchainprivacy, and secure digital commerce. His publications propose enterprise architecturesinvolving Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Model Context Protocol, agent-to-agentorchestration, zero-knowledge proofs, self-sovereign identity, tokenization, and EMVCo SecureRemote Commerce.He is an inventor with four patents related to blockchain, crypto, and Generative AItechnologies. His professional recognition includes the TITAN Innovation Award (Gold), NYDigital Awards (Gold), Aureum International Awards (Platinum), Golden A’ Design Award,PAG Excellence Award, and Visa’s ICUBE Best Demo Award.Jothimani is an IEEE Senior Member, a Fellow of ISCSITR and GARI, and a member ofSigma Xi and NIPES. He has also served on the Strategic Artificial Intelligence AdvisoryBoard at the University of San Francisco, contributing industry guidance on Generative AI, AIadoption, and enterprise transformation.His expertise is also recognized through his service as a peer reviewer for multipleinternational conferences covering artificial intelligence, intelligent algorithms, imageprocessing, networks, communication systems, and information technology. Abstract Title

Title:Universal Design for Intelligent Systems: Architecting Inclusive AI and Robotics for People with Disabilities -  Abstract:Artificial Intelligence and robotics are rapidly transforming how people interact with digital and physical environments; however, systems designed without accessibility as a foundational requirement can unintentionally amplify existing barriers. This presentation examines how Universal Design principles can be incorporated into the architecture and engineering of intelligent systems to create AI-powered technologies that are accessible, adaptive, trustworthy, and inclusive by design. Drawing on developments in multimodal AI, computer vision, natural language processing, assistive robotics, brain-computer interfaces, intelligent wearables, and edge AI, the presentation explores how emerging technologies can address physical, sensory, cognitive, and communication barriers experienced by people with disabilities. It also considers the architectural importance of on-device and edge intelligence for improving latency, privacy, availability, and personalization. Beyond technological capability, the presentation introduces a human-centered engineering perspective in which accessibility, ethical AI, user autonomy, failure handling, affordability, and participation of people with lived experience are incorporated throughout the system lifecycle rather than addressed after deployment. The central argument is that Universal Design should evolve from an accessibility guideline into an architectural principle for intelligent systems, enabling organizations to build technologies that are more accessible, resilient, adaptable, and usable for everyone.
