Biography

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shankar Chelliah is an Associate Professor of International Business at the School of Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons.) from the University of Malaya, an MBA from Universiti Utara Malaysia, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Before entering academia, he gained 15 years of corporate experience with leading multinational companies including Motorola and Intel, where he held various positions in manufacturing, operations, training, and management. Dr. Shankar has more than 15 years of academic experience at USM and has served in several leadership and academic roles, including Chairperson of International Business and Manager of Employability, Internship and Alumni. His teaching and research areas include international business, SME internationalization, strategic management, entrepreneurship, tourism, medical tourism, international human resource management, and organizational competitiveness. He has published more than 100 scholarly works, including books, book chapters, Scopus/ISI-indexed journal articles, and conference proceedings, and has successfully secured more than RM500,000 in research funding. He has supervised more than 30 postgraduate research students at Master's and PhD levels and has served as a visiting professor at universities in Malaysia and Thailand. He is also an experienced HRD Corp-certified trainer and has delivered professional training in areas including leadership, high-performance teams, design thinking, organizational development, and management. Dr. Shankar is actively involved in professional associations, editorial boards, research, consultancy, and community engagement initiatives. His extensive academic, corporate, research, and international experience makes him a distinguished contributor to the fields of international business, strategic management, education, and organizational development.

Title - Becoming a Futuristic Malaysian Women in Enhancing Economy and Society Wellbeing  Abstract: The vision of a futuristic Malaysian woman represents a shift from traditional gender roles to tech-empowered leadership, economic drivers, and social architects. Aligned with national visions like Ekonomi MADANI, which targets raising female talent force participation to 60%, futuristic Malaysian women bridge economic growth with societal resilience. In the education sector, more and more Malaysian women excel in higher education enrollment, increasingly stepping into high-tech fields like AI, fintech, cyber security, and green energy. In the business, women lead micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), leveraging e-commerce and digital platforms to scale local heritage and modern services globally.
