After graduating from a Master’s Degree in Event management, Maelle Montier started her Ocean Journey by an internship at Ifremer (France) in communication and event management. This eye-opening experience led to a position at the World Ocean Network, a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with international and local organisations working on ocean Literacy. Wanting to share her passion for the Ocean, she became a science communicator in Nausicaa (Aquarium and marine science centre in the north France) for schools and the general public during 4 years. She now works as a project officer for the Horizon Europe project Mr.Goodfish 3.0 and the European Interreg project “TREASURE”.

Empowering Sustainable Seafood Consumption Across Europe: The New Mr.Goodfish 3.0 Digital tools                                                                                                                                                                        Achieving sustainable fisheries and aquatic food systems requires not only responsible production practices but also informed consumer choices. The Horizon Europe project Mr.Goodfish 3.0 (2024–2027) addresses this challenge by promoting the responsible consumption of seafood, freshwater fish, and aquaculture products through stakeholder co-creation, science communication, and digital innovation. Building upon the well-established Mr.Goodfish initiative, the project contributes to the objectives of the European Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” by connecting consumers with accessible and science-based sustainability information. The project is grounded in a collaborative approach, implemented through a network of Pilot Sites and Replication Sites representing different European sea basins. These sites bring together scientists, seafood professionals, educators, communicators, and citizens to co-create, test, and validate tools and engagement strategies adapted to local contexts while ensuring their transferability across Europe. A major milestone was achieved in June 2026 with the launch of the new Mr.Goodfish mobile application and redesigned European web platform. Available in 25 languages, these tools provide guidance on seasonal and sustainable seafood species, responsible sourcing, cooking tips, recipes, articles and educational resources. Users can also select fishing zones through an interactive map, helping them identify and prioritize species that are available locally. The platform also includes a dedicated space for Mr.Goodfish members, enabling them to increase their visibility and showcase their sustainability initiatives and best practices to a wider European audience.
